What is 1516?

The Origin Story

Swapna was trying to get admission into the LLB program.

She had completed her B.Sc Agriculture from a private university. But Osmania University refused to issue an equivalency certificate.

The reason?

“Your degree doesn’t have ICAR accreditation, so it’s not valid.”

But this didn’t sound right. What does B.Sc Agriculture have to do with admission into LLB? They are not even related.

I did some digging, found no clear answer, and finally decided to file an RTI with ICAR.

30 days later their reply came, in black and white:

“ICAR accreditation is voluntary.”

Armed with that document, we went back to Osmania University — and got the equivalency certificate issued.

Problem solved, right?

However, I thought “How many others are stuck in similar situations?

How many students are silently giving up their dreams because they don’t know how to file an RTI or approach higher-ups?

How many lose years — because of an incompetent clerk’s casual opinion or vague rules?

That’s the moment 1516 was born.

Why 1516?

There’s no special meaning behind the name.

It’s just something I liked — a clean, catchy number.

And 1516.co.in was available. That sealed the deal.

But over time, 1516 began to stand for something bigger:

💡 A place where Telugus help Telugus

🛡️ A platform that fights confusion with clarity

📜 A mission to use the law as a tool — not as a barrier

Why This Matters

In India, Hindi speakers have support

Rules are in Hindi, notices are in Hindi, and there are thousands of YouTube videos explaining everything in Hindi.

But if you’re a Telugu student,

What do you have? Limited information, nobody to guide you, only few people are sharing.

There’s very little information in Telugu or tailored for our community.

And that’s what 1516 is here to fix.

Who is a Telugu?

We define a Telugu as:

1. One or both parents are Telugus and you speak Telugu

2. You have learned Telugu even though you are not a Telugu.

If you speak the language, feel the culture, and care for the community — you’re one of us.

What We Do

1516 is not a consultancy.

We don’t sell dreams.

We fight for facts.

Here’s what we offer:

• ✅ RTI-backed clarifications (like the ICAR case)

• 🏛️ University admission rules & eligibility guidance

• 📄 Templates, formats, and contact details for applications

• 🔍 Legal resources, GOs, official circulars

• ✈️ Abroad education and visa info (with real citations)

• 🧭 Step-by-step help for confused students

We break down complex problems into simple steps — with documents to support every claim.

The Vision

1516 is a movement.

It’s about empowering Telugus to stop depending on guesswork and start relying on the law.

We want to build a system where:

• A student from Nalgonda, Kurnool, Srikakulam can get the same clarity as a student in Hyderabad

• No one gets blocked by vague rules or rude clerks

• Every Telugu youth knows how to stand their ground — legally and confidently

Because we don’t need favours.

We just need facts.

We are in this together!
